Who Should I Hire to Make Home Improvements?
Lance McKinney, IXL Infrared Management
As a home inspector in Utah, I am often asked for referrals for contractors to repair, remodel or renovate residential and commercial properties. In an attempt to be helpful I have provided the following list of references. This information is provided as a service for you to use as you see fit. Some of these sites provide free ideas, advice, support, guidance as well as referrals. Some of these are paid a fee for this service. Please check out references prior to proceeding to have the work done. It is a good idea to get more than one quote and to be sure that the scope of work is the same. If you do decide to perform the work yourself, be sure that you have the proper training, it can cost more to have to redo your work than to just have it done right in the first place. Be sure to hire the right contractor for your sized project. The internet is a great resource. I offer the following suggestions for your renovation or repair projects:
Handyman Referral Data Bases. Please get more than a single quote for your work and ask for and check references.
Be Your Own General Contractor
If you are more ambitious in your home projects and want to build from the ground up, there are contractors to help you act as your own general contractor.
Home builders, Remodelers
Anyone can call himself a builder or a remodeller. A few that I know and have heard good things about are as follows:
RJ Lewis Inc– Tell Rich hi for me and anticipate working with the best.
Precision Concrete Leveling– Check out the potential saving of lifting (mud jacking) verses replacing your settled curbs and slabs.
Interwest Foundation Repair and Lifting– If your foundation or concrete slab has settled, consider trying these guys out.
Kelly’s Insulation– The two times I used these guys it cost nothing out of pocket. The utility company rebate covered the entire service. Family and friends have had similar experiences. Tell them that I sent you, and let me know about your experience.
I want to continue to highlight the best in the construction industry on my webpage. If you have other great experiences let me know.
